ICAR
-Indian Council of Agricultural Research is apex institute responsible for co-ordinating research in agriculture and agricultural education in India.-In 1926 British government established a Royal commission on agriculture under the headship of lord Linlithgow.
-Commission submitted it's report in 1928 and recommend setting up imperial council of agricultural research with a veiw to promote, guide and co-ordinate agricultural research throughout the India.
-On the basis of report British government accepted recommendations of commission.
ICAR was set up on 16 th July 1929 under the society registration act 1860.
-In march 1946 imperial word replace by Indian under the presidentship of Jogendra Singh.

1) ICAR is an autonomous body.
2) ICAR report to the Department of Agriculture and farmers welfare.
3) President of icar is central minister of Agriculture and farmers welfare.
4)Motto of ICAR is Agrisearch with a human touch
